Toy Review: 25th Edition Optimus Prime Set (Part 2)
The second part of this (slightly belated) review will cover the first issue of the Marvel "Transformers" comic series.
It feels like an expanded version of the first episode with a few more cool details. Ravage talks, which rocks. Some characters have vastly different designs most notably the frighteningly toy-accurate Ratchet and Ironhide, who lack heads. Not to mention Megatron's spiffy alternate color scheme. Charactarization is a fleshed out a bit more and more emphasis seems to be placed on the altmodes being disguises.
The Witwickys look very different and "Buster" is a bit older than Spike.
All in all this vintage issue is a fun bit of Transformers history and I'm definitely gonna buy paperbacks to continue the series. Fun stuff.

Toy Review: 25th Edition Optimus Prime Set (Part 1)
http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Image:G1_OptimusPrime_toy.jpg
The above link shows the original Optimus Prime toy, which I recently recieved from my girlfriend (who I'll refer to as Hoshi from here on out), is a reissue of. Yeah, she rocks like that.
It is perfectly alright to say that this thing rocks utterly and completely. The sheer vintage coolness of it just oozes forth. In terms of show-accuracy, it is immediately recognizable as Prime but is a little more boxy. Anything in terms of design that would ordinarily be a mark off just adds to the retro charm, from the limited range of movement to the strange looking back. I do wish it had the longer smokestacks of the original though. The best part of the whole package is definitely
The trailer is also a part of the package. It contains a sort of missle launching command station thing that rises off of the floor in the front of the bed. Also included is Roller, a little blue buggy of some sort that can carry either a refueling hose or Prime's gun.
Stickers were included to add a little flair to the toy's presentation. How delightfully old school.
This post is less of a formal review than future ones will be simply because it's insane to diss the original Optimus. In Part 2 of this review I'll cover the DVD that came with Prime in the set.

Introduction
Hello people. I'm Finite Shadow, the maker of this here blog.
I'm a college student and plan on using this blog to record my random geekery, with a focus on Transformers related things as the name implies. It'll consist of reviews and things like that.
I may also post on personal stuff and politics on occasion but won't let it drag down the quality (or lack thereof) of my other posts.
